Just learning to garden, and joined this list to glean knowledge from other gardeners. I live in a very hilly area where the soil is mostly white clay, or very rocky in places with sandstone, and also part marshy due to underground streams. So I would consider it poor soil? Still, it grows a lawn and plants indigenous to this area. So far I have Peppermint, Spearmint, Trumpet Vine, Cleome, Purple Coneflower, Blackeyed Susans, and a few other plants I don’t yet know the names for. Last year I tried planting quite a few flower seeds, most of which never came up.
