'Tomato 'Brandywine Pink' planting Fruiting: First fruits

    Sunny 33°C / 92°F

    Yippie!!

I’ve read so much about others growing Brandywine and the fruiting problems they’ve had. Maybe it’s because I don’t have the humidity? I believe that was one of the issues, but that’s just from memory. As of today all 4 plants planted are bearing fruits; each one holding about 2-3 cute little babies! It’s only the 15th of July and if the weather cooperates I expect to see quite a few more, though I’m not expecting great production per plant. Don’t want to get my hopes up too high!!

Tomato 'Wisconsin 55' planting Fruiting: Wisconsin 55 Progress

    Sunny 92°C / 198°F

I only have two and have them both planted in 5 gal containers. They are doing very well, no problems with disease or pests (none on any of the varieties actually!) and have started fruiting within the last 1 to 1.5 weeks. DTM is about 69-80 days; Semi-Determinate plants with 5-8 oz deep red round fruits.
The following picture was taking on July 14th and I recorded the weather in this entry for what it was yesterday

Tomato 'Tiger-Like' planting Fruiting: Progress of Tiger-Like Tomato

    Sunny 33°C / 92°F

Reportedly a good Russian slicer and one of the best tasting of the striped varieties. I don’t have any experience with any of the other available to compare, but I think I’ll know good flavor when I get the chance to taste it!
DTM about 75 days on indeterminate plants; heavy cropper of 2" red/orange fruits with yellow to green stripping.

Picture taken as of yesterday July 14th and temperature is record for that day

Tomato 'Black Cherry' planting Budding: Latest on Black Cherry Progress

    Sunny 33°C / 92°F

After the first batch of seeds didn’t germinate these were re-sown on May 15th and finally planted in the garden 2nd week of June. Now starting to set flower buds within the last few days. As vigorous as I’ve heard them to be I’m not fretting much that this Black Cherry will catch up in no time with the rest! Can’t hardly wait to taste these babies after reading all the rave reviews on the various tomato forums I visit!! This is gonna be good :)))

    First Attempt with Heirloom/OP Tomatoes

    Sunny 31°C / 87°F

This is my fist year growing any type of open pollinated or heirloom tomatoes. All seeds/seedlings were started with the wintersow method (gardenweb forums) and seedlings planted into final containers or ground in the 2nd to 3rd true leaf-stage on May 17th. The last photo was taken on July 3rd and since then all are starting first fruits (or at least first noticed) except a few. All together am growing Brandywine (pink), Wisconsin 55, Tiger-Like, Black Cherry and Zapotec Pleated. Wisconsin 55 is in 5 gal containers and the rest planted in the ground; Black Cherry are not yet setting fruits.

Tomato 'Zapotec Pleated' planting Fruiting: Progress of Zapotec Pleated

    Sunny 33°C / 92°F

I’m really excited about this one as it is supposed to be a great stuffing and slicing tomato that comes from the Oaxaca region of Mexico. DTM 80-85; Dark pink heavily pleated 3-5oz fruits on indeterminate plants. Sounds like a yummy one!

Picture taken yesterday July 14th and temperature is recorded for that day’s high.
