Side garden Friends in the garden
I went out to weed the other day and found this little fellow nestled in the mulch! He burrowed himself in pretty good and eyed me any time I came near his spot. I’ve never seen a toad hiding like that before.
The next evening we had a visit from the baby bunny whose been roaming our back yard. We think she might live under the porch. How sweet!

Can't stay out of the garden center
My sister jokes about being a flower freak, especially when I asked for a heat mat and a mini greenhouse last year. If only she knew….I went to get groceries yesterday and needed to pick up some potting soil as well. Somehow I managed to pick up another half dozen plants while in the garden center as well! I
‘ve not been a huge fan of daylillies but when I saw the Razzle Dazzle Raspberry variety on the half off table I thought well, what the heck! I had some orange daylillies that were planted in front of the house when we first moved in that I divided and moved around last fall. Two of my little transplants didn’t make it so why not add a new color in their spots? The shasta daisy about to burst open was on the sale table as well as the mums. I had planted two mums last fall and while one came back like gang busters, the other whithered and died. Had to replace that anyway. Then was the coreopsis “Early sunrise” that was half off because of some dead foilage but aha! when I cut that all away you’d be amazed at the healthy, bud filled plant that was lurking. Lastly was a gaura plant that I’d never seen or heard of before. What the heck….it was half off as well and would just wither and die if I didn’t take it home.
So when I got home from work last night at 8pm I jumped in to plant my new babies. Sometimes I forget how much fun I have planting and seeing all my little plants come to life. I may have to break down and buy a rototiller to make some more beds if I’m going to keep coming home with plants though!

Veronica 'Red Fox' planting Flowering: Blooming!
I bought these while they were blooming last June and my how they’ve grown since! When I brought these home last year I was more or less just sticking plants in the ground as I hadn’t really read up much on gardening yet. They seem to have come back a deeper pink than last year and I LOVE the color when paired with the balloon flowers.
