    DD's Sunflower House Finally flowering

    Rainy 21°C / 69°F

We have the first sunflower opening up, finally. The morning glories are starting to blossom, too. It’s getting exciting, now. DD is very happy.

Cucumber Harvesting: Cukes and then some!

    Rainy 21°C / 69°F

I actually have these cukes in several spots in the yard, and the cukes in the earthbox are right next to the cukes in the Three Sister’s garden, so by this time, it’s hard to tell which plant the cukes are from. I’m pretty sure that most of the cukes I’ve harvested already are from the earthboxes, but I know for sure that one of the plants is producing. I picked a cuke from that plant today, and there are two more almost ready.

DD's Sunflower House Tall plants, no flowers - Aug 8

    19°C / 66°F

We lost some plants in the back corner of the “house,” so we had to plant some new seeds. The morning glories were already well on their way, and the new sunflower plants seemed to have a little trouble catching up.

So far, the first sunflowers are very tall, and some have buds, but no flowers so far. Just today I saw the first blossom on the morning glories. I’m surprised that it’s taking so long for both types of plants to flower.

Clematis Clematis - slow grower, care instructions

    Sunny 21°C / 69°F

Pruning: The first spring as buds begin to swell, cut back to the first two sets of strong buds on each stem. From then on use instructions for group B1 (a light pruning as buds swell in early spring with some variation in the length of each stem will help produce a well-balanced plant).

To winter: plants should be covered with 6" mulch prior to winter.

Bloom time: Double in May and June, single in Sept.
    Flower size: 6-7"
    Height: 8-12’
    Pruning Group: B1

    Lamb's ears Lamb's ears

    Sunny 24°C / 75°F

It took me a while to identify. This plant seems to grow quite well on its own, but I noticed that sometimes the older plant just dies off; meanwhile, lots of little sprouts are coming up. I have to learn how to care for this plant.
