Walton39's Flower garden

Created on Wednesday, 04 Jun 08

About 10 years ago we converted about half of our back yard into our Northern California version of an English garden. We have around 50 rose bushes and various and assorted plants whose location varies from time to time as I go wild with the shovel and move plants around hoping for that “optimum” place for them to produce at their best. I think at the time we created the garden I remember counting around 200 plants. Some are gone now. Many have been replaced. Many died an unnatural death, and some just got too big for the garden and had to be recycled into Mother Earth in the form of mulch. I get real excited about gardening in the Spring, but when our Northern California tempratures start getting in the 100 degree plus range I lose some of that enthusiasm and just struggle to keep them watered and alive. Spring is always an adventure though as things start to pop out of the ground and I scratch my head and wonder ,“Now, what did I plant in that spot last year?”
