Leafy Lori's Boxes of Goodness garden

We’ve wanted to plant a garden since moving into the new house with the big backyard. We saw an article on building garden boxes (but where the ground was still the bottom of the box). So we’re giving it a go, but having a bit of trouble with the drainage, since the only suitable spot was on a bit of an angle. (Anyone who has any suggestions for flooding boxes, please feel free to share. They seem to be ok in light rain. We do have a drainage tube buried under the two boxes we’ve started.) We’ve started with two 8ft X 4ft boxes with the hopes of adding two more next year.

We’re trying the basic herbs (which we tried to start from seed, but ended up buying plants instead), summer squash, cucumbers, two kinds of tomatos, and eggplant (I don’t even know how this grows. On a vine?) in the first box.

In the second box we planted lettuce plants and then from seed: corn, green onions, and carrots.

So we’ll see how it goes.
