Spirit Wind's Perennial Beds garden

Created on Monday, 09 Jun 08

This is a new adventure in my Gardening life, and God truly has giving me a challenge. Last June My husband and I picked up and moved from the city life to the country life, bringing along a 3 year old and a pregnant belly that was ready to pop. I have had perennial gardens in our previous home and have enjoyed amending and adding to over the past 7 years, we even did a little dabbling in a veggie garden. I now believe that God just had us practicing and teaching us the ropes of the gardening world. Our new home had been completely renovated on the inside and is everything you could ever ask for(Thank you God),the outside however hasn’t seen a hoe or gardening gloves in a long long time. As I said a few rows back, when we moved here I was ready to have my second baby, we moved June 28th and baby girl was born July 13th, so gardening last summer was a write off. This Spring has been very exciting for me and also very back busting, not an easy job bringing back old perennial beds to there full potential. The good news is……At one point on this property someone was a very good perennial gardener with a fantastic eye, you just have to find it all under years of collected weeds. This adventure so far has been some what of a tresure hunt, and I have seen and pulled weeds that I didn’t have in my city garden. I was also shocked to see in early spring, that on our 3 acres not very many spring flowers to be seen, i guess the gardeners before did not like planting bulbs.( looking forward to Fall bulb planting). As you can tell this is a whole new ball game for me, but very exciting and challenging gardening is in my future. Not only do we have perennial beds we have put in a large veggie garden, some cutting flowers and We have a very big old barn foundation. The barn foundation still has the rock walls and some windows and old doorways…….This will be my biggest challenge in the years to come, because I want this to be full of perennials one day and have my own Secret Garden.
