Tomato 'Grape' planting Bounty of grape tomatoes?

    Overcast 20°C / 68°F

Well, I didn’t have many grape tomatoes this year. Next year we’ll be moving the plants. Every few days I would maybe get one or two. Not like last year. Actually, there were many green tomatoes, but they just never seemed to ripen. I finally picked a lot of them and put them on my kitchen windowsill to ripen. Maybe I should be fertilizing. Next year when I plant I’ll some of my newly made compost down first.

Zucchini planting There's a fungus amongus - zucchini issues

    Cloudy 24°C / 75°F 4 comments 2 thumbs up!

My zucchini has some issues this summer. I’ll attach pictures. It looks like something was eating the stem from the inside out. Strange. I did have two plants, and I removed one that looked most diseased and since then the zucchini looks a little better, but it still did not produce much. I hesitate to add fertilizer, because I thought Zucchini did pretty well on its own. Hmmm.

Lettuce planting Time for the lettuce to go

    Sunny 19°C / 67°F 1 comment

I left the lettuce grow until it was about 4 feet tall! I had decided a while back that I wasn’t a fan of the bitterness, but the leaves still had a pretty color. And once the plants reached about four feet, they sprouted little flowers. Cool! Since October is almost here though, and the color of the leaves had changed from burgundy to a muddy brown, I pulled up the plants. Not sure if I’ll plant any next year.

Sweet Corn planting Corn a long time gone

    Sunny 19°C / 67°F 1 comment

I haven’t written a journal entry about the corn in a while. I finally did pull out the broken stalks. While it was a good experiment, and the corn actually did get to the point where it had silks on the top of the small ears, some animal broke the stalks a while back. I don’t think I’ll be planting corn next year.

Pumpkin planting Pulled up the pumpkin today

    Overcast 22°C / 71°F

Well, I pulled up the pumpkin. It was starting to take over part of the lawn that I didn’t want it to go to, and I didn’t have more room to move the vines. Although I have bees come to do their thing, I never saw anything that looked like a baby pumpkin bud near any of the flowers. The pumpkin also had some sort of a mold on its leaves, and the stem appears to be eaten by some sort of fungus or bug on the inside. Although I wish I knew what the culprit was, I don’t plan to plant this next year anyway because it took up too much room. It was an interesting experience though!

Kohl Rabi planting Harvesting: No more Kohl Rabi this year

    Cloudy 22°C / 72°F

I pulled up the last Kohl Rabi plant last week. I haven’t peeled it yet, but I have a feeling that it is quite woody. It had grown to appropriate size about two weeks ago, and I was just too lazy to pull it up. Well, it is pulled up now, and there are no more to harvest. I was a little disappointed that each plant only yields one vegetable, but now I know. I’m not sure if I’ll plant more next year or not.

Kohl Rabi planting Harvesting: two more kohlrabi

    Overcast 26°C / 79°F

Because the kohlrabi no longer appears to be growing bigger, but the vegetable part is growing longer, I decided to pull up two more today. I think that leaves one left, but I don’t remember. Strangely, the leaves appear to have been eaten by bugs of some sort, but the vegetable part is all right.
