Starz0911's Chicken garden
I call this my Chicken Garden, because last year when I first planted in it, the chickens went in and helped themselves. So this year we added chicken wire to keep out the chickens and peacock. Doesn’t keep out the armadillos! It’s in a partially shaded area, but all of our land is partially shaded with 100 year old, 100’ pecan trees, so we are trying to get along. I did have a few squash, plenty for just the 2 of us. Enough green bean for 1 meal….tons of jalapeno and banana peppers, and a few cherry tomatoes. There are only a couple each week. Fun to pick and eat…not very filling! lol
Today I planted along the fence a row of broccoli. In the pots along the sides, cauliflower and in the center in 2 rows spinach. We’ll see. We usually don’t have bad winters, but this year the Farmers Almanac says that it will be a long hard winter.
