Dalila's Native plant - yard garden

I am using native plants to replace lawn in my inner-city lot. Every year, I add more plants. The first year, I planted small purchased in my front yard. The next year (2006), I turned up all the sod with double-digging and put down a biodegradable weed barrier sheet with straw on top. I planted seedlings that I had grown and purchased into it. The following year, I filled in with more seedlings that I grew and purchased. This year, I plan on turning the soil in my side yard. I planted some shrubs around the exterior and plan on growing more seedlings for the side yard. I have chosen mainly legumes for the main ground cover but may also be adding some creeping thymes.
