dull day
Very unsettled weather with the cloudcatchers making tremendous thunderheads this morning. Apart from clouding over and a period of very strong gusts, we have had neither thunder nor rain so I shall go and water. As with a number of storms this summer, the winds were from the north and east (roughly) so they are bashing the east side of the garden which is not the side that usually catches the wind; weather usually comes in from the west. It has cooled off considerably from 33C a couple of days ago to 19C at the moment.
When I looked at the transplanted plumbago it was looking very wilted. The ‘Moon Temple’ lily is crawling with ants and looking rather battered from the winds.
Photos: Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’ beginning to bloom above coreopsis ‘Golden Showers’; Scabiosa caucasica; Chinese larkspur/ chinense ‘Gentian Blue’ a now self-seeding annual which really is this intense blue, although this year there is at least one in a paler more ethereal blue; clematis ‘Huldine; lavender, yarrow and berberis aurea nana

It may be a dull day, but your garden pops! I especially love the lavender, yarrow and berberis combination.

You have some fantastic combination planting going on. I really like the Crocosmia, lovely colour and great architectural shape.

Happibun and Vera Marie, Thanks for the compliments. The crocosmia are fantastic and what is more they attract hummingbirds.
