    Zucchini Squash Harvesting: Last Harvest

    Sunny 18°C / 64°F

I was removing the leaves with powdery mildew, and there was only about five healthy leaves left. The plants looked really sad, and since we are not all that keen to consume more zucchinis, I decided to pull all the plants.

Zucchini Squash Fruiting: Powdery mildew, but still producing!

    Sunny 13°C / 55°F

We were out of town for two weeks, and there was rain when we were gone. That gave the zucchini powdery mildew, but didn’t stop it from fruiting!

    Zucchini Squash Harvesting: Oh noes!

This one was hiding beneath some leaves, and we didn’t see it until it got this big. It weights 1.3 kg!

    Baseball-bat-sized zucchini… check!

    Too many zucchinis… check!

Now I’m officially in the club of zucchini growers :-)

    Zucchini Squash Harvesting: Baby zucchinis

    Overcast 16°C / 61°F

To counter the too-many-zucchinis problem, I am harvesting them at baby size.

    Zucchini Squash Harvesting: Zucchini pancakes

    Sunny 22°C / 72°F

Yup, too many zucchinis. We made zucchini pancakes for breakfast this morning. You can’t taste the zucchini, actually, which is a welcoming change :-)

    Zucchini Squash Harvesting: First zucchini

    Sunny 22°C / 72°F

I harvested my first zucchini today. I cut a slice to try it raw, but it did not have much taste. Maybe I left it to grow for too long? I put the rest into my ratatouille. That was very yummy!

My garden also has tomato and bell pepper plants. If I add onion and eggplant I can make ratatouille without buying any vegetables. Wouldn’t that be fun? I wonder how difficult it is to grow onion and eggplant.
