Skyfiery's Peppermint or watermint?

The red spider mites which afflicted this peppermint? before I was given it have returned. I was doing my nightly cursory inspection on my plants when I noticed dots on the undersides of the leaves. I used my finger to brush against them and a few were stuck to my finger pads, then they started moving.

Yups. Red spider mites indeed.

I just don’t know how the returned, seeing as how the mints are pretty much misted everyday by seaweed extract, and the season has turned monsoon-y, meaning humidity is pretty high with more-than-plenty of rainfall every day.

So I’ve kind of quarantined the plant (and the cuttings I took) and sprayed a concoction of water + cooking oil + dishwashing liquid onto the underside of the leaves.

I was given this supposed/suspected water mint/peppermint/black peppermint by a GCSer who told me he wanted to pass it to me. But he warned me of suspected spider mites.

The plant wasn’t in terribly good shape when I got it. Leaves were still green near the tips, but the bottom leaves had yellowed out. There were some unidentified black/dark red dots on the undersides.

So, I sprayed it liberally with a concoction of garlic and chilli water. Then after a week, I snipped off the tops and stuck them back in the soil to propagate.

Now, they look more than healthy and happy.

Got this pot of mint from Neverend of GCS. We can’t figure out if it’s peppermint or water mint.
