Hippeastrum Flowering: Salmon Orange takes a bow
Actually, I’m about a month late with this entry blush
At the beginning of April, the first hippeastrum into bloom was the one that I thought was supposed to be pink but it turned out to be a glorious shade of salmon orange.
So I couldn’t be sure if it was the pink one or the red one … I had to wait for the other one to bloom.
I’m sure I took some photos of the second one when it came into bloom but I’ve yet to locate them in the myriad of picture folders on my computer. It was a beautiful scarlet starry one with a white and green throat.
I think this is a lovely colour and the flowers were huge (as were the leaves!) so the plant was greatly admired by visitors coming into the Gallery.
Now both hippeastrums have been moved out into Uncle Frank’s greenhouse for their summer rest. I made sure to label them properly with their flower colours this time so I won’t get them mixed up in the future!
