Budding: Small Bud
One of the sunflower plants appears to be budding. It is the shortest one with the smallest leaves, surprisingly. The other plants also look like they may be budding as they look a bit swollen in the center with strange things poking out that don’t look like leaves. Dying: this thing got tall.
This one got at least ten feet tall, compared to last year’s rather short, six foot one. He’s died off now, and has a praying mantis egg case on a leaf. The praying mantis loved this guy, and didn’t move anywhere else.This entry is about Bessicajach's Sunflower - 'Mammoth' in the Backyard garden.

Got half-way through sowing these around the corn when the youngest (nearly 2yo) emptied out both bulk containers of beans on the grass. Didn’t get finished, and only managed to pick up barely half the beans! It’s now raining. We’ll have magic beanstalks aplenty in a few weeks!.
