To propagate from seed, just let the seed pod dry on the plant, then split open to harvest seeds … but is Lord Baltimore a hybrid? If so you may not have success with the seeds. They could be sterile and even if they’re not, the plants grown from seeds may not come true.

The good news is that most hibiscuses are very easy to propagate from a cutting. I usually use rooting powder and soil, but many will root just in water. I’ve never tried to collect seed because it’s just too easy to take a cutting. Good luck!

I take cuttings whenever I decide I want another plant. There probably is a ‘right’ time, but I seem to have success whenever. I use the newest growth I can find and cut 6” or so just below a node. Trim all but a couple leaves off. I’ll post a picture of the cutting I took a couple weeks ago.
