A delicious change for your salads, sweeter than regular cucumbers. Lemon cucumbers may also be pickled, or stuffed with relish.
Easy to grow, they can be seeded directly or started indoors 4 to 6 weeks before last frost. The fruit is ripe when they begin to color, harvest at golf ball size for best flavor. You may pick on a continuing basis. They can be grown in pots. Vines grow to 6 to 8 feet long.
Planting depth: 1/4 inch
Full sun.
Spacing: In rows, leave 8 inches between plants; space rows 3 feet apart. Or plant one plant per 12 inch pot (leaving plenty of room for vines to sprawl.) Or place 6 to 8 seeds in hills that are spaced 4 to 5 feet apart.
Seed collecting: Allow unblemished fruit to ripen; clean and dry seeds.
