Over the last few months, my poor front garden has taken quite a battering. One of the local kids has taken up free running and travels up the street through the front gardens and over the walls as though they are hurdles. The local school kids have dropped their litter as they congregate en mass...This entry is about Happibun's 1. Formal Front garden.

Last week, my neighbour’s landlord made good his promise to deliver to me a load of cobbles that he had no use for. He had been saving them for a project, but there were not enough of them in the end, so he said I could have them. Of course, once they had arrived, it proceeded to rain non s...This entry is about Happibun's 2. Tiny Secret Back garden.

The health food chain, Julian Graves, has been holding a stock sale. Yesterday the Skegness branch had everything marked down to half price, so I splurged out and bought two more sprouter jars. The plan is to have a steady flow of salad stuff over the winter. Seeds and beans are so cheap compared...This entry is about Happibun's Seed and bean sprouter garden.

Tasty and healthy combinations for the sprouter
Information taken from the Bioforce information sheet that came with the BioSnacky jar sprouter. These mixes are sold by A. Vogel, but I am sure that it is possible to make something similar for yourself. I am including them as a record for myself, and to inspire myself and others :-) Asian Mix &...This entry is about Happibun's Seed and bean sprouter garden.

I have stared at this mess for over a year. It is across the street (little more than an alley, it is so short) from my apartment, backing a commercial property, about 2’ wide and 100’ (or so) long. There are large containers on the other side of the dilapidated chain link fence along part of it,...This entry is about Verthandei's Covert garden.

This has just shot up. It looks like it is a gladioli, but I can’t be sure until it flowers. I thought it might have been one of the irises, which have been skulking this year, but the flower spike is more Edna Everage than anything else. I planted a load of bulbs ages back, I mean years and year...This entry is about Happibun's Bent Prunus garden.

The Olympics are over and the snails move in
Who would have thought that snails liked paper so much? The Olympic flag flying over the People’s Republic garden has been well and truly noshed by them. I’ve found snails nestling and chomping away on it every day so far. Perhaps I should leave paper around to draw the blighters out ...This entry is about Happibun's The People's Republic of China garden.

Just bought 9 cu ft of steer manure. Will be buying twice as much soil, though I will have to spend some time researching where to get it. The big department store only had soil that was pre-treated with fertilizer. The packaging all said the same thing – uniquely formulated for annuals, pe...This entry is about Vera Marie's Flowers under the Prune Tree garden.

One of the nine Jethro Tull Coreopsis was in bloom when I bought them. So, I snipped off a flower and checked it against a couple of the sweet peas to check color contrast. I’m thinking a purple or blue sweet pea would be best with this golden yellow flower. I’m just not sure yet whet...This entry is about Vera Marie's Front Porch Raised Bed garden.
